THE BIG SCREEN

Plug in. Gather round.

A computer, an HDMI cable and your TV. Everything else is in the browser.

  1. Connect the picture.

Plug the computer into an HDMI input on the TV and select that input with the remote. Open laps.bigtvgames.com on the computer.

  2. Connect the players.

Pair or plug each controller into the computer and press a button on it, so the browser notices it. Xbox and other standard controllers work as they are; anything unusual can be mapped in the game’s PAD menu. Keyboard players need nothing at all.

  3. Fill the screen.

Use the game’s FULLSCREEN button. If there is no sound, press SOUND in the game, then check the computer is sending audio to the TV.

  4. Start a game.

Pick a course and a game, set how many people are playing on this computer (one to four), and start. Friends on laptops or phones open the same address and join your room by name or by its six-digit code. CPU trucks fill any empty seats.

Which computer?

Any laptop or desktop with a current browser and an HDMI output; Chrome and Edge are the ones we race on most. The game is light enough for ordinary laptops; a wired or strong Wi-Fi connection keeps online rooms smooth. The TV shows the whole stadium, so the bigger the screen the better.

Have a Roku TV or a smart TV?

Use it as a screen. The computer plugged into it runs the game; nothing is installed on the TV and no app is needed. Playing from the TV’s own browser or a TV stick is not something we have tested. Phones do join as full players over the internet, with their own view and thumb controls, so a phone in every hand plus one computer on the TV is a complete setup.
